It’s a Team Thing: How Realtors and Home Inspectors Can Work Together
One big common misconception in the world of real estate is that realtors and home inspectors are at odds. I have no idea if this is true with other home inspectors however, we work hard to communicate with our agents and work as a team to keep our clients best interests at heart. When home inspectors and realtors see each other as allies the buyer is the big winner.
Keep It Real
Our job as inspectors is to complete a home inspection and deliver a clear understandable report with speed and accuracy (Tri County Home Inspection, LLC delivers inspection reports with 12 hours of the completed inspection). Of course it’s never easy being the bearer or bad news, but in the long run knowledge is power and no one likes unexpected surprises after moving into their new home. When a buyer is fully aware of the home’s pluses and minuses then there is very little room for buyer’s remorse.
How We Can Work Together
Expectations are often the biggest culprit when deals die. It’s always helpful when a realtor has prepared their buyer for the “what ifs.”
A Digital Revolution
Thanks to today’s digital age, inspection reports are now computer generated and can include all kinds of diagrams, charts, and high-res photos and even video clips. When I started inspecting homes and buildings in 1999 Polaroid photos and film were standard.
We love when realtors let their clients know the report will probably be very detailed. However we pride ourselves in delivering a concise report that is easy to understand.
How We Can Work Together
It’s another expectation issue. We love when realtors let their clients know the report will probably be very long and very detailed—and that’s a good thing. That’s what they paid the inspector to do and what we want to provide our clients and agents.
The Delivery Matters
Sometimes inspectors leave their analytical hats on way too long. We need to remember the emotions that go along with the home purchase and the potential disappointment that may be a result of our findings. We as home inspectors should always communicate clearly, honestly and with tact.
How We Can Work Together
Realtors are usually the ones with the great communication skills. If we work together, the detailed findings, positive or negative, can be relayed in a professional manner.
We’ve Got Your Back
Tri County Home Inspection never set out to kill deals. We want to be seen as a team player whose sole purpose is to provide important information that will help the buyer make an educated purchase.
When realtors and inspectors join forces for the good of the client amazing things can happen. When you work with my team you get way more than just an inspection. All of our inspections are backed up with $100,000 in free warranty coverage from a nation home warranty provider.
